This month, EB-LINK completed the upgrade of the coding customization service for the entire series of optical modules, expanded the compatible code library and adjusted the delivery process: from order placement to coding, retesting, and shipping, a fixed moving line has been formed. The same batch of modules can be coded and shipped separately according to the requirements of different brands. This upgrade directly responds to the high-frequency pain point of third-party optical modules that "do not light up when plugged in, and the port reports an error."
Why does brand lock code make it difficult to change modules?
Mainstream network equipment manufacturers generally verify the manufacturer code and temperature compensation parameters of optical modules in the system. Modules with non-original codes may be rejected, receive an alarm, or even close the port directly. After the equipment is out of warranty, the price and delivery time of the original module are difficult to accept. Third-party compatible modules are a more economical path. The premise is that the code is written correctly - the fields such as manufacturer name, OUI number, and alarm threshold are written correctly. Only then will the equipment regard the third-party module as "one of its own."
What has been changed in this upgrade?
- Code library expansion: mainstream model code types from Cisco, Huawei, H3C, ZTE, Ruijie and other brands have more complete coverage, and new model code types can be added on demand;
- The scope of writing code is relaxed: covering all speeds from 100G to 10G and 2.5G, includingSFP Gigabit single mode dual fiber 10KM optical module and SFP+ 10G single-mode dual-fiber 10km optical moduleThis type of volume model;
- Process changes: After writing the codes, insert them one by one into the corresponding brand platform for retest identification and DDM reporting. After passing the code, the codes will be affixed and shipped. Bulk orders can be delivered in batches according to the port.
What does the customer get?
For users, upgrading means changing the network without changing the module: when the equipment is moved from brand A to brand B, the inventory module can continue to serve by rewriting the code, such as10G optical module and ODF batch delivery project for Southeast Asian operatorsSuch an environment where multiple brands are mixed can also be prepared in one warehouse. There is no additional charge for coding customization. Just indicate the device brand, model and number of ports when placing an order.
