This month, EB-LINK completed the spot expansion of the SFP 2.5G optical module series. The four main models of 2.5G multi-mode and single-mode 20KM, 40KM, and 80KM are all included in the standing inventory. Each module can be shipped directly after passing the test. This is a stocking adjustment made in response to the concentrated growth in 2.5G demand in the past year.
Why is there suddenly not enough 2.5G available?
2.5G is a speed that is "less than above but more than below": a middle ground where Gigabit cannot run, 10 Gigabit is over budget, and it is just stuck. A typical scenario is the video surveillance aggregation layer - after the AI camera code stream increases several times, Gigabit access is frequently congested, and the cost of replacing the entire machine with 10G is too high; in addition, PON networking and industrial vision data backhaul also use 2.5G extensively. In the past, such orders had to wait for production schedules, and customers were under great pressure on construction schedules. This expansion is to bring up standing inventory and shorten the delivery time.
Each of the three distance models has its own division of labor.
- SFP 2.5G single mode dual fiber 20KM optical module: The most commonly used stalls between buildings in the park and the main trunk of the factory area;
- SFP 2.5G single-mode dual-fiber 40KM optical module: district and county monitoring aggregation, cross-township links, it is recommended to leave a 3dB margin in the link budget;
- SFP 2.5G single mode dual fiber 80KM optical module: Long-distance point-to-point, 1550nm wavelength, used with low-loss jumpers.

Each module put into the warehouse this time has been tested on the computer, and the optical power, receiving sensitivity, and DDM reported data are qualified one by one before being labeled and shipped out of the warehouse.
