Recently, EB-LINK has sorted out common issues that have repeatedly appeared in projects and launched a special consultation on data center high-speed interconnection selection for integrators and design units. The evolution of 400G and 800G, which the industry is concerned about, is a hot topic.

The first suggestion given by the consultation: don't lock the gear in advance

Projects often ask whether they will fall behind soon if they go to 100G now. The company's answer based on the off-the-shelf system is: for most medium-sized computer rooms, 100G is still the mainstream traffic range that can be implemented currently, and 400G is more concentrated in backbone nodes and large-scale cloud computing scenarios; whether to upgrade depends on port density, power budget and business plan for three to five years. It is not recommended to lock in advance for the sake of evolution and put the budget on uncertain needs. For projects that do have new generation planning, it is also recommended to conduct a small-scale pilot first to verify the power distribution and heat dissipation margin of the cabinet before making batch decisions.

Consultation provides three materials at the same time

  • Selection comparison based on real models of 100G and 25G on sale on the site to avoid unavailable specifications in the plan
  • Link optical power budget form template, fill it out according to the equipment room and it can be used for review
  • Sequence recommendations and spare parts level planning for the step-by-step transition from 100G to higher grades

The three materials are compiled based on the actual models on sale and common working conditions on the site. They can be quoted directly during plan review, and there is no need to use general templates to apply to projects.
